Update to the reports of wasps in the parking lot, we had the pest team take a look and this is what they reported:
Inspected areas where stinging insect nests were reported. Based on image provided and video provided I located the area in question. What is present are what are commonly called “ground bees” but more specifically classified as a solitary cavity nesting bee. These bees are an extremely beneficial insect pollinator, RARELY sting as they do not need to defend a “nest” and are seldom treated. Habitat modification is typically recommended as they require bare, loose soil in order to nest. Their activity period is only a few weeks long and then the adults move on. Whether treatment is performed or not this activity will likely appear year over year. We do NOT advise treating these insects due to their beneficial nature. Please see link below for additional info/resources https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/solitary_bees_in_yards Thank You
We have opted to leave them alone based on this report.
